Woman Fatally Injured in Two-Vehicle Collision near Ivy Street

LIVE OAK, CA (October 10, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Beatriz Curiel was killed and Esmerelda Perez was hurt in a crash on Highway 99.

Authorities responded to the scene around 4:22 p.m., on September 19th.

For reasons under investigation, a northbound red Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Perez collided with a southbound brown Toyota Camry driven by Curiel. Reports indicate that Curiel was attempting to turn left onto Ivy Street when the crash occurred.

Police responded to the scene and located Curiel with fatal injuries. Medics pronounced her dead, and determined that she was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported 25-year-old Perez to a nearby hospital for further treatment of serious injuries.

Following preliminary duties, officers determined that alcohol or drugs were not a factor. An active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
