38-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Crash near Thomas Road

PHOENIX, AZ (January 23, 2023) – Late Thursday night, Barry Casias was fatally struck in a pedestrian collision on 27th Street.

Police responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m., near Thomas Road on January 19th.

According to reports, the driver of a vehicle struck Casias near the intersection. However, further events leading up to the incident remain unclear.

Medical personnel arrived and located the male victim lying on the road. Due to the extent of injuries sustained, crews pronounced 38-year-old Casias dead at the scene.

In addition, the male driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Following preliminary duties, officers suspect that impairment may be a factor.

At this time, an active investigation to determine more information is still currently underway.
