HOOD, CA (July 11, 2023) – Friday evening, Barry Andrew McClain died after a DUI-related incident along Highway 160. The fatal crash happened around 7:30 p.m., on Highway 160, just south of Hood Franklin Road. According to reports, the McClain attempted to avoid another driver driving erratically. Police said that McClain drove off the roadway to avoid a collision and into the oncoming traffic. The first responders at the site of the collision declared McClain dead at the scene. 70-year-old Barry Andrew McClain served as a chairman of the board of directors for the Courtland Fire Protection District. Authorities said that the second driver was suspected to be driving under the influence but this has yet to be confirmed. At this time, no arrests have been made. The Sacramento County officials will provide more information once available.
