LAPD shot and killed a man they believe was brandishing a gun while barricading himself inside the Hotel Rosslyn in downtown L.A. on Tuesday.
The initial call from the Rosslyn hotel was a medical emergency, but once the Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) paramedics arrived, they saw the man with a gun and called the police.
The man had barricaded himself in a 5th-floor hotel room, with LAPD SWAT officers responding to the call, saying they were attempting “de-escalation techniques.”

While initially using “less-lethal” weapons, a shootout eventually broke out, leading to the shooting of the suspect inside the hotel.
“SWAT officers utilized less lethal and an officer involved shooting occurred,” LAPD said in a statement. “The suspect was struck by gunfire and taken into custody.”
LAFD on-scene pronounced the man dead and his firearm was recovered by police officers.
No other injuries or deaths were reported from the incident.
