Back in March, Barnyard Venice closed down when chef Jesse Barber left. (Barber later revealed that he was opening Dudley Market, a restaurant and market also in Venice.) After finding a new chef and undergoing a renovation, Barnyard is set to reopen at the end of next week.

The new chef is Larry Monaco, a 20-year industry veteran who worked at Tabla and Gramercy Tavern in New York City. He was also corporate chef for Nordstrom Cafes and in recent years has run his own L.A.-based catering operation that specialized in large-scale Hollywood event productions.

According to representatives of Barnyard, “Monaco brings big, bold flavors to the plate, with accessible menu pricing structures designed to encourage neighbors to drop by often for lunch, happy hour, and dinner.” Of the renovation, they have this to say: “Minimalist interiors have witnessed a complete transformation, mindful of the rustic country aesthetic. Corrugated metal blends with distressed leather seating, new furnishings and bold wall treatments lend a warm, relaxed atmosphere.”

Barnyard Venice is set to open to the public on Friday, May 29, with dinner service commencing at 6 p.m. Lunch will be offered weekdays, Mon.-Fri., 11 a.m.-2 p.m., beginning Monday, June 1. Weekend brunch will be added in the coming weeks.
