Mark your calendars, everyone: Barnsdall Park's annual fundraising event series, Friday Night Wine Tasting, starts May 23 at the historic Hollyhock House. Indulge in selections from Silverlake Wines, specialty food trucks, art workshops and music by KCRW's DJ Dan Wilcox while feasting on a gorgeous view of L.A. If food trucks aren't your thing, pack your own picnic and veg out on the grass — although you'll want to leave your Two Buck Chuck at home: No outside alcohol is allowed. Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, Hollyhock House belonged to oil heiress Aline Barnsdall. Surrounded today by a theater and art galleries, the mansion and its gardens serve the altruistic purpose for which Barnsdall originally dedicated the space in 1927: a public art park in memory of her father, Theodore Barnsdall. Sure beats getting him the usual Father's Day tie. Fridays, May 23-Sept. 5 (except July 4), 5:30-8:30 p.m.; $25, including a four-glass pour plus a commemorative wine glass; $15 designated drivers and nondrinkers; $5, kids over 3. Tickets online only; none sold at the door. Hollyhock House, 4800 Hollywood Blvd., E. Hlywd. barnsdall.org/events/friday-night-wine-tastings.
