Old world Italian meets modernist Los Angeles at the seventh installment of chef Walter el Nagar's Barbershop Ristorante, which will be popping up for a Valentine's Day special dinner at Flake in Venice. With only 16 seats in the whole place (approximately the size of a barbershop, get it?), the dinner promises to be intimate, if not deliciously decadent. On the menu is beef topped with foie gras and black truffle, veal with oysters and horseradish, red beets with potatoes and prawns, and a tres-L.A. kale juice dish, where the green stuff will be poured over almond-ricotta salata and pasta di gragnano. Dinners are five courses and you can bring your own booze, since none will be served.
