5-Year-Old Critically Injured in Hit-and-Run Collision near Mono Avenue
THERMALITO, CA (March 15, 2022) – Authorities are searching for Banessa Santana following a hit-and-run on 12th Street, Saturday afternoon.
Initially, the incident started when Santana almost slammed into the front-end of a patrol vehicle while driving a white BMW in the area.
Authorities then attempted to stop her, however she continued westbound on Mono Avenue where she struck a black Honda Civic.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived at the scene and located two juveniles and a man inside the Honda.
Medical personnel transported the two boys to a local hospital where the 5-year-old remained in a critical condition while the other was in a stable condition.
According to police, the 33-year-old female suspect from Oroville fled the scene.
Meanwhile, authorities arrested Santana’s passenger, 50-year-old Jeremy Papesh for outstanding felony warrants. At this time, the Thermalito hit-and-run crash remains under investigation.
