Well here's a new word for you: meatballery. That's what this new restaurant is calling itself, along with its name, Ball & Chain.  It's a meatball-themed restaurant, and it's now open in Hollywood. I think we can happily file all of this – the word “meatballery,” the restaurant itself – under things we didn't know we needed.

Owned by Mark Kreiner and with chef Michael Ruiz on board, Ball & Chain is a build-your-own-meatball-experience joint. So, you choose from a number of different style meatballs (beef, pork, veggie, “today's special ball”), choose a sauce, and then choose how you'd like your balls. Do you want your balls on a slider? On a grinder? Or would you like them sauced-up, on top of a side? These are the tough questions you'll face when partying at a meatballery.

There's also a focus on beer, with almost 20 beers on tap as well as a ton of bottles.

The space is described as “dark and intimate setting with an edgy industrial feel.” How is this achieved? With “a stunning tunnel of glossy black subway tiles.” Say that five times fast.

Ball & Chain opens daily at noon, and closes at midnight during the week and 2 a.m. on weekends.
