It seems emblematic of the changing world of luxury auto culture that the Maybach — a brutally expensive car manufactured by Daimler AG and overwhelmingly favored by rap and hip-hop artists — ceased production in 2013 after 104 years in business. That development looms large over the 12-date DUB Auto Show and Concert Tour this year, which in Los Angeles includes both a custom car show and performances by Tyga, B.o.B., Big Sean, Kid Ink and Clyde Carson, as well as the dance stylings of Chi Town’s Finest Breakers (aka Monster Kids). DUB, the San Gabriel Valley magazine that features high-end, high-performance cars, has turned people on to the latest in celebrity and custom car culture for more than 13 years at this event. And forget about the Maybach: The tour isn't about bejeweled vehicles cranked out on a factory line so much as the enduring vision of the individuals who customize them. That's so L.A.
