Baby Spinach and Bagged Salads Recalled

Two greens producers in Salinas have recalled their products due to bacterial contamination. Taylor Farms is recalling its organic baby spinach, and River Ranch is recalling its bagged salads, Food Safety News reports.

Random testing by the U.S. Department of Agriculture found Salmonella on a finished package of spinach. Testing of the bagged salads uncovered Listeria. Both products have been distributed throughout the United States, including California.

The recalled spinach includes Private Selections Organic Baby Spinach and Marketside Baby Spinach. Customers who have purchased the recalled spinach are urged not to consume it and should toss it. The bagged salad recall includes a slew of different products packaged under the brand names River Ranch and Sysco, including coleslaw mixes, spring mixes, iceberg, romaine, Caesar salad kits and garden mixes. Luckily, there have been no reported illnesses associated with either recall.
