Comedian Aziz Ansari seems perpetually caught between that moment of surprise at doing a thing and the subsequent moment of meaning to do that thing all along. It's hard to believe that it's only been since 2007 that he burst on the scene with Human Giant alongside Rob Huebel, Paul Scheer and Jason Woliner — but burst he has, from selling out theaters across the nation to honing his acting chops to befriending Jay Z. His career has worked out in a weird way that's like one of the wild, scammy schemes cooked up by his hip-hop entrepreneur character, Tom Haverford, on Parks and Recreation. He's still in his cycle of jokes from his recent Buried Alive series of tours, so if you missed him last time, here's your chance to catch up with one of the most enthusiastic champions of life in a reliably miserable artistic discipline.
