DUI Crash on Tremont Road Kills Ayush Shrestha; 3 Other Teens Hospitalized

SOLANO COUNTY, CA (April 18, 2021) – A DUI crash on Saturday evening killed Ayush Shrestha and injured three other teens in Solano County.

The California Highway Patrol reported the crash around 9:30 p.m., along Tremont Road near Bulkley Road.

According to the authorities, a teen in a Black Ford Mustang was traveling at a high rate of speed. Then, the teen made an unsafe turn and lost control of his vehicle. As a result, the Ford Mustang flipped and landed in a nearby field.

Afterwards, the officials identified the driver to be 18-year-old Shrestha, who died at the scene. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Jasper Eerkens, in the passenger seat suffered from major injuries.

In addition, the two other passengers of the Mustang, girls 16 and 17, received serious injuries as well. One of the occupants was later identified as Sophia Durgin.

The Davis Joint Unified School District stated that three of the teens, including Ayush Shrestha, were students of Davis High. Authorities also stated that alcohol contributed in the crash.

No further details have been provided to the public at this time.
