Southern California's Scripps Ranch is one of the wealthiest communities in the nation (median income: $144,438 — much higher than Beverly Hills'). At 71 percent Anglo, it's also one of the whitest 'hoods this side of the Santa Clarita Valley.

So it was a little surprising to us to see an awesome video (after the jump) of mostly white girls from the local high school twerking their asses off, yoga-pants-covered bottoms in the air like they just don't care. The San Diego Unified School District also was surprised:

A parent of a Scripps Ranch High School student tells NBC 7 San Diego that the school has suspended dozens of kids involved in the making of this twerk video.

[Warning: explicit lyrics]:

Some will be banned from prom or commencement, too, according to the station. What's the problem? Apparently school property and editing equipment were used to make the tape.

Thirty-three students, including 32 who appeared on the video and one who edited, were disciplined, according to the report.

The station also indicated that it's possible the video violated the school's sexual-harassment policy. Getting freaky on tape while a boy tacitly admires your jelly is against the rules, apparently.

We reached out to the school district, but all spokesman Jack Brandais would say is, “We can't comment on student discipline issues” because of federal law intended to protect students' privacy.

But Jack, these kids obviously wanted their private matters exposed.
