Ahoy, mateys! Avalon marks Independence Day weekend with another one of its lavish mega-makeovers, this time a pirate theme complete with a giant ship onstage. But it’s not just the décor that makes ya get your jolly rogers on. The club’s holiday-weekend DJ bookings are downright explosive if you’re a fan of electronic music. Though some of ’em are from the U.K., not the good ol’ U.S. of A., their dance-floor appeal is universal. Fri., June 30, Giant presents house heavy Tall Paul along with Trent Cantrelle; Sat., July 1, Avaland offers Danny Howells’ funky and futuristic beats; Sun., July 2, things get flamboyant with John Brady’s Service, a gay dance party featuring turntablists Roland Belmares and Joe Gauthreaux; and finally, Mon., July 3, X-Mix presents some loud and proud American talent including DJ Sneak and Junior Sanchez. 1735 Vine St., Hlywd.
