The horror.
A fog machine malfunctioned at a Midnight Red concert that doubled as a pre-party for the Teen Choice Awards at Avalon Hollywood, sending six to a hospital, officials said.
Fog enveloped the crowd and a chemical from the machine apparently burned a few club-goers leading to some pandemonium; people at the scene seemed sensitive to chaos in the wake of the Aurora massacre. But an L.A. Fire Department spokesman was quick to call out those who made a big deal of it:
After the band apparently tweeted that a riot had broken out in its honor, LAFD spokesman Brian Humphrey implored them to keep it real:
.@ItsMidnightRed please be stand-up + *responsible*by letting fans know there was NO riot. You owe #RedHeads the truth.

It all happened about 6:04 p.m. at the venue at 1735 N. Vine Ave., Humphrey stated.
Later he said the “carbon dioxide-powered device” apparently misfired, fogged up the place, and dripped some of what club-heads know as “fog juice” on some of the kids, causing “superficial burn injury” to a few.
Ultimately 6 people were taken to hospitals; 68 firefighter/rescuers were at the scene, according to Humphrey: Twenty-two total patients were checked out at the scene and 16 declined further treatment.
The show, he said, was cancelled, although it appeared to us that DJ duo Gabriel & Dresden was slated to go on for the weekly Avaland late-night party as scheduled. Promoter Giant tweeted this:
False alarm at Avalon this afternoon, no fire, just C02 system surprise at special event… club is open, K Sky and G+D rocking it…
