Award winning author P.E. Barrington’s Who Okayed This?! The Riveting Life of Grant Davis, as seen on ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX, is a gripping thriller made even more riveting by the fact that it is actually based upon true events. The novel won the 2022 Stellar Book Award.

With Friends Like These, Who Needs Enemies?

Who Okayed This?! is the story of Grant Davis, a man whose life is turned upside-down in a matter of moments. An attempt on his life leaves him scrambling for answers as he tries to discover why the people closest to him are determined to destroy him.

The novel has been called dark, gritty, and suspenseful. In the summer of 1995, the small upstate New York town of Woodstock is not as innocent as it seems on the surface. When Grant is the victim of a brutal home invasion, he finds himself injected with a deadly poison. Even worse, the attack came from those he trusted most. As he races against the clock to find a cure, Grant’s journey will take him from the streets of New York City to a mysterious castle, hidden in the wilderness of Bavaria.

Truth Stranger Than Fiction

Grant finds himself facing corruption on both sides of the law as he struggles to find answers. While parts of this story are fictionalized, author Barrington urges his readers to keep an open mind. “Sometimes,” he says, “truth is stranger than fiction.” He also feels that while his novel focuses on high-intensity life and death stakes, it also holds an important message: “Embrace life,” he urges. “Live every day with passion. Lose and keep the faith. Win and still be grateful. You never know when life can change completely. Life is short. Take the trip. Buy the shoes. Eat the cake!”

This message is what truly resonates with readers of Who Okayed This?! It’s a wild ride and a race against time, a truly page-turning thriller; but it also carries a strong message to embrace life day by day and make memories. Newly acclaimed author P.E. Barrington has created a shockingly true and wildly entertaining saga of a man fighting for his life.

Winner of the Stellar Book Award

Barrington’s gripping novel received the 2022 Stellar Book Award. “The prestigious ‘Stellar Book Award’ symbolizes the display of courage, perseverance, and belief in the human spirit,” says Barrington. “I’m delighted and honored to be the proud recipient of this award.”

His journey to writing his masterpiece is as gripping as the story itself. Barrington confesses that he was forced to dictate the story, as he was left terribly injured in a horrific car accident. “I was crushed between two cars,” he recalls. “I woke up with my neck in a Philadelphia collar, metal splints on both wrists, and a cast on my right leg. I couldn’t even walk. I was confined to a scooter for mobility.”

Facing a long and painful recovery, Barrington began to write down his experiences as part of his healing. He reached out to a friend who was confined to a wheelchair due to a serious illness, and she, being a successful author herself, encouraged him to write. “Life is like a book,” he says. “Some chapters are sad, some are happy, and some are exciting. But if you never turn the page, you will never know what the next chapter has in store for you.”

Despite the challenges he has faced, Barrington has made a full recovery. “With life as short as a half taken breath, don’t plant anything but love,” he urges his readers. He also offers the following teaser for his award-winning novel:

A threat from the past …

“Two months later, I received a collect call from Sing Sing. Yes, that Sing Sing, the maximum security state prison north of New York City. I didn’t accept the charges, of course, because I didn’t know anyone who had been sent there. After all, I didn’t make it a habit to seek out and befriend convicts. Whoever he was, the caller screamed over the operator as she was speaking to me. I heard him loud and clear after I rejected the call. He was threatening to kill me!

He called a few more times after that, always with the same message: “I’m going to kill you, and you won’t see it coming!”

I replied “Obviously your employer didn’t educate you on your subject. Two things you should know: There are a handful of alphabet agencies that have been keeping tabs on me for a very long time. In fact every phone has been monitored for decades. Even as we speak, this phone call has been triangulated and all of your information as well as all of your associate’s info are being examined, right now, in real time. Your entire existence is going to be under a zoom microscope from now on, so, get ready for a shit storm! By the way, you can’t kill me.”

He asked “Why is that?”

I replied… “Because… I’m already dead!”
