The word “magnificent” comes to mind when you think of the country musician and energetic performer Austin Martin. The Montana native is known for his eclectic soulful sound, a fusion of modern country rock, blues, jazz, and hip hop. Currently, Austin is on his 2023 “Scars and Stripes Tour” and enjoys discovering a novelty quality about himself with every performance. Austin Martin and The Herd (his band) continuously challenge the audience to keep them captivated and entertained. Austin attended the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in Manhattan; this gave him the tools that assisted him in breaking the top 35 out of 100,000 competitors on the Oxygen Network’s, The Glee Project. Shortly after, he made it to the executive producer round of American IdolSeveral years later, this charming performer is on his sixth national tour. His hit singles, “Small Town Nights” and “Girl Named Chevy,” will get you on your feet. He recently completed his latest album in Los Angeles with iconic producer/musician Michael “Fish” Herring.

Austin was born and raised just outside of Billings, Montana. His parents divorced when he was less than a year old, and both remarried a couple of years later. Austin takes pride in the fact that he has two sets of parents. This rising star is different from your typical rancher, although he comes from a place known for its beautiful geography and outdoor adventures. His biological father was a DJ, and his stepfather was a rancher. Adopting the qualities of both dads; gives Austin this unique ability to adapt to change and respect the discipline of music. He understands it’s only possible to be a successful musician with practice, determination, and resiliency. At an early age, he innately knew he was meant to be a performer, songwriter, and musician. If he’s not raising cattle on the ranch, he’s raising the roof with his music.

Austin expresses

“There are so many talented performers that influence my style. They range from 50 Cent, Lil Wayne, Eminem, Prince, Motley Crue, Michael Jackson, and Elvis to George Strait, Jon Pardi, Luke Combs, and Hardy. I’m in admiration of their style, creativity, and songwriting skills. Regarding songwriting, I have studied the greats for years and continue to use the stage as a platform for growth. Engaging with your fans is a primary quality a performer must have. Without that, nothing is possible. In addition, I learn a ton from my talented and multifaceted band members-The Herd.”

Austin met Michael “Fish” Herring in LA shortly after the Glee Project. Being a fan of Prince and having Mr. Herring as his guitarist, Austin felt flattered to collaborate with someone that’s played for Prince. Their initial introduction in LA was that Austin asked if he could play some originals for “Fish,” and the rest was history. They have been friends and partners in creating all of Austin’s albums for years. Although Austin and “Fish” work on the music’s creation side, they do not tour together. Austin Martin and his band The Herdconsist of other great musicians—Mark Romain on guitar, Jack Ryan on bass, and David Bedell on drums. Austin and Mark are both from Montana, so Mark was Austin’s first Member of The Herd, but they needed to grow. They knew they needed to explore the capital of music to find a drummer. After reviewing a few audition tapes, they found David Bedell out of Nashville. With his eccentric style and experience, he was the perfect fit for The Herd. David Introduced Austin and Mark to Jack Ryan out of Columbus, Ohio, and with his gritty style and smooth bass licks, The Herd had found their bass player. Austin Martin and The Herd are touring on the 2023 Scars N Stripes Tour and will most likely come to a city near you!

Post pandemic. Austin Martin and The Herd are thriving, with two new music videos coming out soon. Austin’s biggest goal by the end of this year is to perform at The Grand Ole Opry and the CMT Music Awards next year. He’s branding his style as the hybridized sound of country rock, hip-hop, and blues.
