Some people come to Los Angeles to reinvent themselves, but Australian radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands came here to get fired. That is, according to the Jewish Telegraph Agency, what might happen after he did a show from Los Angeles in which he suggested that an actress in his home country could lose more weight by staying in a concentration camp. Australia's top-rated FM host broadcast the crack from L.A. Monday, about television actress Magda Szubanski, who is also a spokesperson for a weight-loss program.

“Put her in a concentration camp and watch the weight fall off,” Sandilands quipped. That evening he found himself on indefinite suspension by his employer, the Austereo radio network. He issued an apology Tuesday, but the Aussie press is betting that it won't be enough for him to keep his job. (Last month Sandilands lost his judgeship on Australian Idol after getting a 14-year-old girl to admit on his show that she'd been raped when she was 12.)

Note: An earlier version of this post erroneously reported that Szubanski is Jewish. (See comment below.)
