When beer festival season rolls in this time of year, it’s natural to focus on the big ones — L.A. Vegan Beer Fest, the L.A. Brewers Beer Week Kickoff Festival and newbie festival Hops & Hopes — that feature more breweries than you could ever drink your way through in four hours.

But let’s not forget about the little guys, like the Atwater Village Beer, Wine and Food Festival, which just announced the lineup for its third year as a scaled-down, neighborhood block party that just so happens to also be an awesome beer fest.

Started by Atwater Village Chamber of Commerce President Andy Hasroun, who owns Link N Hops and 55 Degree Wine (the first two businesses in the area to make craft beer taps a priority), the Atwater Village Beer, Wine and Food Festival takes over his businesses’ joint parking lot with a dozen breweries. Vegan and meaty sausages, along with a limited food menu from Link N Hops, will also be available to festival attendees.

The small, curated list of breweries at the 1,000-cap event include nearby Golden Road Brewing and Angel City Brewery, which makes it a celebration of the positive culinary changes happening in the neighborhood. Bravery Brewing from Lancaster, Hess Brewing from San Diego and SanTan Brewing from Arizona will also be pouring. 

Since Atwater Village started its own hyper-local festival three years ago, others have followed suit. Long Beach started its Promenade Beer & Wine Festival in 2013 and Uptown Whittier hosted the inaugural Taps & Tapas event last July. 

Atwater Village Beer, Wine and Food Festival will be held on Sunday, April 26, from 1-5 p.m. in the parking lot of Link N Hops, 3111 Glendale Blvd., Atwater Village; $40; atwatervillagefestival.com
