Ye Meng Yuan, one of three L.A.-bound teens who died following the July 6 crash of Asiana flight 214 at San Francisco International Airport, was alive when she was ejected from the plane but died after she was hit by a responding fire truck, San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault told the Weekly today.

He described her post-autopsy cause of death:

Multiple blunt injuries consistent with being run over by motor vehicle.

Yuan was best friends with Wang Linjia, who also perished after the Boeing 777's tail came off and she was ejected. Both girls, 16, were from Jiangshan High School in China and were headed to West Valley Christian School in Canoga Park for a summer program.

A third victim, 15-year-old Liu Yi Peng, was part of the same group of 35 on-board the plane who planned to spend part of the summer in L.A.

The cause of the crash was still under investigation, but National Transportation Safety Board officials appear to have ruled out mechanical malfunctions or weather as a cause.

The flight from Seoul was on approach and came in too slow, clipping a seawall, losing its tail, landing gear and engines, and spinning out. According to the NTSB an oil line on one of those engines ruptured, igniting a fire.

More than 180 people were injured, a few quite critically.
