For more than six months a man has been robbing remittance businesses from San Diego County to L.A., and he might have even been casing a similar target all the way up in San Jose, police say.

The LAPD has given the suspect the unfortunate name of the “Asian Wig Bandit.” (Can you imagine the Black Masked Robber or the Mexican Mustache Thief? Neither can we. But we digress):

The department says that, since December, the bandit has been robbing businesses that specialize in transferring money to the Philippines.

Locations of the crimes include, according to the LAPD:

• CHULA VISTA 200 BLK E. ORANGE AVE 6-08-13

• CHULA VISTA 200 BLK E. ORANGE AVE 5-14-13

• LOS ANGELES 3400 BLK WILSHIRE BLVD 5-06-13

• LOS ANGELES 16000 BLK NORDHOFF AVE 5-06-13

• R. CUCAMONGA 6700 BLK CARNELIAN AVE 4-07-13

• LOS ANGELES 200 BLK S. VERMONT AVE. 3-28-13

• W. COVINA 1500 BLK E. AMAR RD 2-21-13

• W. COVINA 1500 BLK E. AMAR RD 2-21-13

• LOS ANGELES 8300 BLK VAN NUYS BLVD 1-17-13

• LOS ANGELES 600 BLK N. VERMONT AVE. 12-19-12

Cops say the bandit brandishes a handgun and once even tased a victim during a robbery.

He orders targets to the ground and demands not only cash but personal items, including jewelry, the LAPD alleges.

But perhaps the suspect's most distinctive signature is his get-up, according to a department statement:

The suspect walks into a business disguised as a female wearing a wig and sunglasses …

There's a $25,000 reward for his head. L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti:

This bandit presents a serious threat to the public. The City is offering an award to help capture this criminal. I want this bandit identified, caught, and convicted before his crimes escalate.

The suspect is described as being of Asian descent, in his late 20s, 5 feet, 9 inches, and about 170 pounds. His wigs of choice are blonde or “black” and shoulder length, cops say.

Police believe the bandit is driving a beige or light-colored BMW SUV, possibly an X5.
