UCLA’s annual cross-cultural experiment brings together an array of traditional dancers, musicians and other performing artists for several weeks each summer. APPEX honors masterful practitioners of Asian art forms while encouraging multiethnic and interdisciplinary collaborations. The first salon performances several weeks ago showcased classical performances of various Asian performing arts, while these final two events reflect what happens when the classical masters cross paths with masters of jazz, postmodern dance and other contemporary performing idioms. Each show is a fascinating snapshot of the fusion possibilities of dance. A postshow reception offers a chance to chat with the artists.
