45-Year-Old Crossing Guard Killed in Crash near Stanley Middle School

LAFAYETTE, CA (September 9, 2021) – Wednesday afternoon, 45-year-old Ashley Dias was killed in a pedestrian accident on School Street.

Police arrived to the scene at 3400 School Street around 2:56 p.m., after receiving multiple dispatch calls.

According to reports, an SUV struck Dias and a child near Stanley Middle School. Witnesses say Dias was attempting to save the child from being hit when the collision occurred.

Paramedics treated the child for minor injuries. However, Dias was found trapped underneath the SUV and unresponsive. Shortly after, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Moreover, reports indicate that Dias was working as a cross guard at the time of the accident.
