Sunday night, Fleeting Projects, the monthly series of one-night-only shows at Renee's Courtyard Cafe, brought together Futurama animators Aimee Major Steinberger, Crystal Chesney-Thompson and Derek Thompson for "Folklore." Each artist displayed their fairy tale-inspired work in separate rooms decorated with personal touches. Steinberger, who I interviewed last week, used obis to accent her take on "The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter." Chesney-Thompson included her handmade jewelry with pieces based on "The Princess and the Pea" and "The Little Mermaid." Thompson showcased work from Marishi 10, his comic about a female ninja that is based on Japanese legend, along with samurai armor.
