Corey Helford Gallery is celebrating its fifth anniversary with the group exhibit "Zero to Sixty," which has its opening July 1.
The show is billed as a combination of new works from artists who have shown with the gallery from the beginning and new artists it's never shown before: "what's best at Corey Helford Gallery and what's to come."
To help celebrate, here are ten kick-ass paintings from the show:
10. Eric Joyner: Jungle Trek
This is not how I remembered The Jungle Book.
9. Buff Monster: Delicious Dessert
What flavor is the guy in gray? It's like something from Scoops.
8. Kent Williams: Sea: Rise
This was the first draft of a storyboard for The Karate Kid. Then they decided to have him fight humans.
7. Brandi Milne: And Such Is Life
Yes, this describes life exactly.
6. Kazuki Takamatsu: One day I made a great find
This is not the only kid-with-a-gun painting on this list. What's up with that?
5. Mia Araujo: Sleeping Sickness
Looks like they had macarons in Victorian times.
4. Meggs: You Hold Yourself Well
Too bad that Wonder Woman TV pilot didn't work out this year. We would have loved to see some renegade in NBC's marketing department make this the poster and stick it on billboards everywhere.
3. Hush: Translations
Hush is into mixing women in with street art. Some are more explicit than others.
2. Nick Walker: The Charming Children
I hope my kids don't turn out this way. Or do I?
1. Michael Mararian: Black Flag
