Daniel RolnikEllen Schinderman has taken the classic craft of needlepoint and given it a pornographic twist. And currently her blowjob snapshots and framed three-ways featuring hands on dicks and dicks in pussies line the front walls of The Hive Gallery in downtown Los Angeles.
“I have a lot of fun making these,” she said, “and I still have several folders worth of vintage porno photographs on my computer that I want to turn into even more pieces.”
Schinderman started getting her exhibit “Flesh and Fiber” together back in November of 2011 because it takes her approximately 40 hours to complete each work of art. And after pinching a nerve from straining all day on an improper incline without stretching, she's since started a regimen of yoga. Although, she still has a gnarly callus on the tip of her left index finger, which enables her to no longer feel the needle if it accidently pokes into her skin.
