The goal of Fleeting Immersion co-creators Janet Varney and Jessica Makinson is “the fusion of concept and commerce” — taking a thematic profile of a gallery exhibition and applying it to not only art pieces but also handmade treasures, vintage finds and more, all contained within a pop-up shop location (this time, at Tinlark Gallery in the historic Crossroads of the World complex) for a limited run. The ladies' theme for their inaugural 10-day excursion (the first of a planned thrice-annual event) is “Santa Fe Astronaut,” using the space to imagine the living quarters of a fictional character and juxtaposing the solitary, desolate beauty of both the Southwest American desert and outer space and each in all of the artists' contributions; more than a dozen artists and artisans, including Christopher Ryan, Susie Ghahremani, Dan McCarthy and the Harbinger Jewelry, will populate the space with art, upcycled furnishings, books, clothing and more.
