Hey, you got soccer in my modern art! Hey, you got modern art in my futbol! Two great tastes that no one ever thought to taste together come together at the 1st Outpost Cup Tournament. Highland Park-based arts organization Outpost for Art pairs the excitement of this year's World Cup with a fund-raiser to support their cycle of residencies, which bring South American artists to Los Angeles over the next two years. Guadalajara collective Homeless take the reins in one of their more stellar conceptual ideas: dictators and guerrillas playing soccer — and remember, it's pronounced “Pi-no-chet,” not “pinche.” Pre- and postgame entertainment includes DJs Alejandro Cohen (Dublab) and Alex Mendieta, singer Erika Miranda, local vendors and the “architecturally inspired ice cream sandwich” stylings of the Coolhaus ice cream wagon — just in case you forgot you were there for the art.
