Former governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger, accused the city of Los Angeles of negligence toward what he called a “pothole.”

The actor made waves on Twitter Tuesday, posting a video of himself filling the hole he said was causing property damage to the residents in his neighborhood.

“Today, after the whole neighborhood has been upset about this giant pothole that’s been screwing up cars and bicycles for weeks, I went out with my team and fixed it,” the caption read on Schwarzenegger’s Twitter post. “I always say, let’s not complain, let’s do something about it. Here you go.”

The video showed him pouring bags of blacktop repair patches, meant to fill asphalt potholes and cracks.

 

The city of Los Angeles responded by saying the opening on the road was not a pothole, but a worker service trench that was intended to be filled by May, to which Schwarzenegger responded by saying the work in the area had been finished in January, with the hole remaining thereafter.

“So everyone knows, the pipeline work was finished in January,” the statement on Schwarzenegger’s Twitter post said. “Apparently, they thought it was a good plan to take six months to cover the trench, so I just did them a favor.”

Potholes and sinkholes were an issue for Los Angeles after weeks of intense rainstorms damaged roads throughout the county, leading to more than 19,000 repair requests.

Last week, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said the city was acting with urgency to fix damage caused by the recent barrage of storms.
