27-Year-Old Driver Leads Police Chase near Central Avenue in Monterey

MONTEREY, CA (March 2, 2021) – Early Monday morning, 27-year-old Armando Alfaro Jr. was arrested after a police chase on Highway 101.

Around 12:00 a.m., officers received reports of a driver traveling the wrong way on the northbound lanes. In response, police attempted to stop him; however, the driver led officers on a brief chase before eventually crashing into a Monterey County Sheriff vehicle.

Shortly after, paramedics responded and transported the injured officer to a local hospital. Meanwhile, police arrested Alfaro for DUI, evading a peace officer, and other criminal charges.

No further details have been released to the public at this time.
