Julius Shulman, the Los Angeles photographer who chronicled the flowering of Mid-20th Century architecture, died at his Los Angeles home Wednesday. He was 98. Shulman's “Case Study House #22” (pictured here) was one of his many portraits of local modernist residences. Such pictures immediately became iconic images for a postwar city that was boldly, brazenly declaring itself to be the gateway to tomorrow.
