Apple rejects sex-related apps all the time. Anything to do with porn is stomped on before “concerned parents” have a chance to object. Apps offering photos of scantily glad girls are even turned down — there's been long-standing drama surrounding the removal of the SuicideGirls' app, which prompted the banning of a myriad “boobie apps” and the resulting outrage of consenting boobie-loving 18+ iPhone users worldwide.

But most recently a nudity-free, “erotic” app designed by a visual artist outside of London has been nixed by the Apple gatekeepers, and the argument is an interesting one.

The Geometric Porn App (the name is kind of a bullseye) is a simple “game” that allows the user to move various shapes around the screen in order to create a series of motions that emulate a particular sex act.
A rectangle with a triangular tip stands still until you “jerk” the phone, which causes a white snake-like line to “flow” out of the end. A diamond placed just above a small circle cleverly depicts what's probably a vagina and anus, and with the flick of a thumb the shapes glide toward you like a visually stimulating money shot.
And my personal favorite is the user's ability to insert a lollypop-like object (simply a thin rectangle with a large circle on the end) into the above-mentioned triangle and watch the geometric “orifice” swallow it whole.

Vag and ass? Or just a simple shape combination?

Apple sent app creator Luciano Foglia this rejection notice:

Apps that present excessively objectionable or crude content will be rejected. We also found that many audiences would find your app concept objectionable, which is not in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

Foglia, whose online bio says he's been working in the industry for more than 10 years focusing on interactive design and code-based animation, argues that his Geometric Porn app “does not show any sexual or erotical image. It's totally photography free. It's a game of optical art created for the allusion of the erotic.”
Both sides of the sticky app puzzle are understandable. Watch Foglia's online demo and tell us what you think about Apple's decision.
