2 Pronounced Dead after Wrong-Way Collision on Main Street
BROWNSVILLE, TX (September 4, 2023) – Sunday morning, Anuar Jobi and Astulfo Cantu Jr., were killed in a wrong-way crash on Expressway 83.
Police responded to the scene around 3:20 a.m., on the eastbound lane of Expressway 83, near the Main Street overpass.
According to reports, the driver of a wrong-way vehicle struck a white Toyota SUV, occupied by Saint Joseph students.
Medics arrived and pronounced the rear driver’s side passenger dead at the scene. Authorities later identified him as 17-year-old Anuar Jobi.
Due to the extent of injuries sustained, medics also pronounced Cantu Jr. dead at the scene. Meanwhile, paramedics transported the three others to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
