38-Year-Old Male Pedestrian Struck in Hit-and-Run Accident near University Center Drive

LAS VEGAS, NV (July 24, 2023) – Early Friday morning, Antonio Rodriguez was arrested after a hit-and-run collision on Flamingo Road. Police responded to the scene shortly after 12:45 a.m., near University Center Drive just a few blocks away from the strip. Per reports, the driver of an eastbound Nissan Versa attempted to cross the intersection of University Center Drive and struck a pedestrian who was standing outside of a marked crosswalk. Upon impact, the driver failed to stop or call for help and continued heading east. Medical personnel arrived and transported the man to Sunrise Trauma where he remains in critical condition. Shortly after, crews located the Nissan driver and passenger. Officers conducted a DUI test, and the driver showed signs of impairment. As a result, police arrested 33-year-old Rodriguez for hit-and-run, DUI and driving without a valid license. Operating a vehicle is a responsibility that should not be taken lightly. As a driver, avoid distractions that could easily lead to dangerous collisions and never drive while impaired. If you find yourself unable to safely drive, you can always contact a Lyft, Uber or taxi service instead.
