Is South L.A. no place to be gay?

A 28-year-old man says he awoke recently to find that someone had smashed the windows of his car, flattened its tires, and etched the word “gay” into its roof. Not nice:

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department says it happened Sunday in the 2100 block of West 108th Street in unincorporated South Los Angeles.

According to the department:

The vehicle was parked on the street in front of the victim's house when this incident occurred.

In other words, whoever did it knew who they were targeting.

Deputies are considering this a hate crime case and ask that anyone who witnessed the car bashing or who might know who did it to give them a call at 323-820-6700.
