If it wasn't here before, the era of the blogger as king-taker is upon us.

After L.A. blogger Andrew Breitbart revealed that New York U.S. Rep. Anthony Weiner was sexting and sending revealing photos to women who aren't his wife, the congressman resigned today, saying:

Today I am announcing my resignation from congress so my colleagues can get back to work … Most importantly so I can continue to heal from the damage that I have caused.

At a news conference in New York, Weiner apologized to constituents and his wife.

I make this apology to my neighbors and my constituents, but I make it particularly to my wife.

While some have said Weiner could have survived this if he had not denied his sexting initially, pundits were already predicting that the liberal, a rising star of the Democratic party, would run for office again once the sexting scandal blew over.

It was a win-lose situation for bloggers, meanwhile. While it's clear that a man with a laptop can bring down a powerful politician, we now have nothing to write about.
