Hit-and-Run Crash on Carson Road Kills 14-Year-Old, Driver Arrested

CAMINO, CA (February 17, 2022)  23-year-old Anthony Smith was arrested following a hit-and-run crash on Carson Road that killed a 14-year-old girl.

The accident happened around 4:15 p.m., on the north shoulder of Carson Road near Barkley Road.

According to reports, a 14-year-old girl was walking east on Carson Road’s shoulder when a Honda CR-V driving west ran into her.

CHP said the driver continued driving and fled the scene, leaving the 14-year-old at the scene.

Despite life-saving efforts, first responders pronounced the girl dead at the scene.

Police later identified the driver as Anthony Smith, officials located him on Tuesday night.

Authorities charged Smith with felony hit-and-run, vehicular manslaughter, and driving under the influence and booked him into the El Dorado County Jail.
