63-Year-Old Rider Dead after Motorcycle Accident near Grandview Street

ENCINITAS, CA (March 31, 2022) – Thursday afternoon, Anthony Louis Avila was killed in a motorcycle collision on Highway 101.

According to authorities, the incident happened around 3:50 p.m., near Grandview Street. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

As per reports, Avila was riding a motorcycle south in the No. 2 lane of Highway 101 when he made a left turn into the No. 1 lane to pass a vehicle ahead. There, Avila collided with an eastbound SUV that crossed into his path while traveling on Grandview Street.

Due to the extent of injuries sustained, paramedics pronounced 63-year-old Avila dead at the scene.

At this time, authorities have not released the identities of the other parties involved. Meanwhile, Encinitas officials continue to investigate the motorcycle crash.
