Feels like Los Angeles could have used Ghostbusters this Halloween season. After a woman mysteriously died in the storied Millennium Biltmore Hotel downtown last week, a fire erupted at the circa-1926 Mayfair Hotel in nearby Westlake a few days later.

And then it happened again: Over the weekend flames returned to the same floor of the Mayfair, level three, though it's not clear if the Sunday night blaze was also at the Regency Ballroom that saw fire Thursday.

The Sunday night fire was reported at 7:04 at the 12-story hotel at 1256 W. Seventh St., said Devin Gales of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The Thursday fire set off sprinklers that chased out many guests. This time? Not so much.

Still, guests must be a little creeped out by a second blaze, this one on Halloween night.

The Mayfair, which caters to Japanese tourists, seems to be a well-run old hotel in a part of town where you can still score heroin and get shot in a drive-by. That's scary enough for us.
