Woman Pronounced Dead Following Pedestrian Collision near South Union Avenue

BAKERSFIELD, CA (January 16, 2023) – Late Friday night, Angie Parra was pronounced dead after a pedestrian vs vehicle collision near Watts Drive.

Per initial reports, the incident happened at around 11:00 p.m., January 6th. When a northbound 2008 Nissan on South Union Avenue struck a female pedestrian for reasons currently unknown.

Initial investigation showed that the woman was standing in the center median when she began to walk in the second lane.

Furthermore, the Nissan was unable to avoid the woman and eventually struck her.

Consequently, the woman, later identified as 32-year-old Parra, was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.

Meanwhile, police were unable to determine if alcohol and/or drugs were contributing factors to the incident. An active investigation into the fatal pedestrian collision is currently underway at this time.
