Angelyne is the original zero threat, a star in her own mind without any discernible talent besides self-promotion.

As such she paved the way for legions of self-styled stars — Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian — who have made a living off pure fame.

It's not clear if Angelyne, whose heyday was in the 1980s as a billboard pinup, made money off her image or spent money on it. But the concept of the hollow star is all hers. And now, some tribute cash is finally coming her way:

Bonhams announced this week that some of Angelyne's prized possessions are going up for auction June 24.

The house says that the timing coincides with the release of the Sunset Strip hair-metal movie Rock of Ages, which may or may not contain footage of said lady-in-pink's billboards.

The items up for sale, according to a Bonhams statement, are to include:

… The clothing she wore on her first billboard (est. $3,000-4,000); a House of Taylor ring (est. $700-1,000); a complete on-screen worn costume for Earth Girls Are Easy (est. $3,000-5,000); a vinyl 6-foot poster depicting the icon (est. $1,000-1,500) and a key to the city of West Hollywood proclaiming the icon Honorary Mayor (est. $1,000-1,500).

No pink Corvettes are included, apparently.

Don't all step over each other to get a piece of this (non-) history. The catalog and more info will be up on Bonhams' site shortly.
