Starting next month there will be a pro-same-sex-marriage Californian in the White House. L.A. public relations executive Kristina Schake will start as First Lady Michelle Obama's spokeswoman.

The San Francisco Chronicle notes that she's a co-founder of the American Foundation for Equal Rights, the group that's fighting California's same-sex-marriage ban (Prop. 8) in court.

President Obama was against Prop. 8, but he has yet to say yes we can when it comes to men marrying men and women wedding women.

The Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was scheduled to take up the challenge to Prop. 8 Dec. 6.

Here's part of the First Lady's statement on Schake, by the way:

“I'm thrilled to welcome Kristina to the team. Kristina brings a wealth of expertise that I know will make her a tremendous asset in the East Wing.”
