The marvelous pianist András Schiff returns to Disney Hall for a solo recital of sonatas written by Joseph Haydn, Ludwig van Beethoven, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Franz Schubert late in their lives. As a lifelong pianist (and also conductor), Schiff is uniquely suited to understand these sage pieces, having specialized in intense surveys of these and other composers throughout his extensive career. The Budapest native has been something of a man without a homeland in recent years after decrying the rise of fascism in Hungary and his longtime base, Austria, but he should feel welcome at Disney Hall following his well-received Bach performances over the past few years.
