Woman Arrested Following Fatal Rollover Crash near Golden Bear Trail

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA (September 15, 2022) – Sunday evening, Andrew Ruiz Perez died after a solo-car crash on Pioneer Trail.

The fatal incident happened on September 11th, just before 7:00 p.m. on Pioneer Trail at Golden Bear Trail.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Diana Shemyakina, in a 2011 Honda CR-V made an unsafe turn at a high-speed rate. As a result, the SUV overturned and landed west of the road in an embankment. The impact of the collision left the passenger, identified as 34-year-old Perez, dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, investigators reported that the 26-year-old driver, Shemyakina, displayed symptoms of intoxication. She was transported to Barton Memorial Hospital before being arrested for felony DUI.

At this time, South Lake Tahoe officials continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the Pioneer Trail solo-car crash.
