UCLA Police Pursuit Ends in Crash, 4 Injured

LOS ANGELES, CA (July 11, 2022) – Thursday night, authorities arrested Andrew Rivas after a pursuit on UCLA campus ended in a collision.

The incident occurred just before 1:00 p.m. Per reports, officers noticed a vehicle traveling recklessly near the intersection of Le Conte and Tiverton Avenue.

When police attempted to pull over the driver, the involved suspect failed to yield, and a brief pursuit ensued. Eventually, the pursuit ended on Westwood Plaza after the suspect crashed into a security bollard on Bruin Walk.

Responders transported the driver and his three passengers to Ronald Reagan Medical Center for further treatment of unspecified injuries.

The UCLA PD later identified and detained the driver, 22-year-old Andrew Rivas, for reckless driving and evading an officer. At this time, no further details have been provided.
