56-Year-Old Highway Worker Fatally Struck near Sahara Drive

LAKE TAHOE, CA (September 28, 2022) – Monday night, police arrested Andrew Phillips after a collision that killed a Highway worker.

The incident happened at around 10:44 p.m. on State Route 28 near Sahara Drive.

According to reports, the highway worker was directing traffic when Phillips in a Subaru Forrester SUV fatally struck them

Phillips then continued driving and slammed into a dump truck and an excavator.

North Lake Fire pronounced the 56-year-old victim dead at the scene due to the extent of their injuries. Meanwhile, Kristopher Jones, the driver of the dump truck, and Derek McVey, the driver of the excavator, were uninjured in the accident.

Following the crash, police arrested 36-year-old Andrew Phillips on suspicion of DUI.
