1 Killed and 2 Injured after Suspected DUI Crash on Highway 101

VENTURA, CA (July 29, 2021) – 26-year-old Andrew Mejia of Moorpark tragically died Monday morning after a suspected DUI crash on Highway 101.

The accident occurred around 3:30 a.m. July 12, on southbound Highway 101 at the West Main Street off-ramp.

According to the CHP, they discovered a 2016 Infiniti Q50 with major damage and three trapped occupants inside.

Crews rescued three occupants from Moorpark, all of whom were identified as men in their twenties.

Two men were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Sadly, the third person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials identified the man as Andrew Felix Mejia, 26, of Moorpark. Mejia was in the car as a passenger.

The vehicle’s driver, a 25-year-old man, was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Furthermore, he could face additional charges of vehicular manslaughter, CHP added.

At this time, an active investigation remains ongoing. Once available, more information will be released.
