28-Year-Old Pronounced Dead after Motorcycle Crash near Tennessee Street

REDLANDS, CA (April 18, 2022) – Tuesday morning, Andrew Joseph Merritt died in a fiery motorcycle crash on Interstate 10.

The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. on April 5th. Crews arrived near Tennessee Street on the westbound side of the freeway.

Per their initial investigation, police said 28-year-old Merritt was speeding on his motorcycle when he suddenly lost control. As a result, he struck two vehicles and was ejected from his bike that eventually caught fire.

Due to the extent of his injuries, 28-year-old Merritt was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following the fatal collision, California Highway Patrol closed a portion of the westbound lanes to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, an active investigation into the fiery crash is currently ongoing.
