58-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Deadly Hit-and-Run near Broadway

PHOENIX, AZ (January 23, 2023) – Wednesday night, Andrew Joaquin Salazar was killed in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on 28th Street.

Phoenix Police responded to the scene around 6:30 p.m., near Broadway on January 18th after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

According to reports, Salazar attempted to cross the street mid-block when the driver of a westbound vehicle struck him. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid or contacting authorities.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced 58-year-old Salazar dead at the scene.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. At this time, the suspect remains at large. Phoenix police encourage any witnesses to contact local officers as soon as possible. Once available, further details will be provided.
